Penguin Book Cover

I was challenged to take part in the Penguin Random House, Cover Design Award. This is a annual competition that which allows UK and Ireland-based designers and illustrators who haven’t yet had significant experience in a paid creative role the chance to win career changing prizes.

There are three different categories on which I could choose from an each have their own book, requirements, and target market. I chose to design for the book 'Girl, Women Other', the book explores identity, race, womanhood, and what it is to be British through the lives of twelve very different people, it is described as celebratory and elegiac, a fiction and social history; it ignores genre, and the cover should try to reflect that.
